Fernando Alonso has reacted to rumors that he is dating Taylor Swift following her recent breakup with Joe Alwyn.
Before this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, the Spanish racer was asked about his love life in a recent interview with Sky Sports. The reporter elaborated on how the relationship speculations involving him and Swift have been making news, citing one of Swift’s songs as an example.
“I knew you were trouble,” the interviewer teased Alonso, citing Swift’s song “Red.” “It’s been an exciting few weeks for you over this hiatus,” the interviewer said.
When asked if he has received more attention online since the romance rumors first arose, he replied, “Probably,” but he acknowledged that his career is currently his first focus.
But racing and Baku are my main priorities, he said.
Earlier this week, Alonso seemed to fuel the dating speculations. Swift was winking at the camera and glancing down at his phone in a silly TikTok video while the song “Karma” played in the background. He referenced the singer’s Eras tour in his caption for the photo, writing “Race Week Era.”
This week, speculations about Alonso and Swift’s alleged affair were sparked by a blind item that was posted on the celebrity gossip account DeuxMoi.
“A few Spanish magazines have started posting about TS and Spanish F1 driver Fernando Alonso,” as seen on Page 6, claims an anonymous email on the account’s Instagram. By this point, they say, the pair had been dating for a week. Nothing significant, though, as they had both recently been unmarried.
Earlier this month, Alonso and his ex-partner Andrea Schlager issued a statement announcing their split. They did, however, make it clear in the statement that they would still support one another’s professions.
We would like to let you know that our relationship is over. “We have been fortunate enough to spend a beautiful time together, and it will continue to be so, but with a different sort of affection,” he wrote on social media at the time, according to Sports Illustrated. As you have undoubtedly observed, we have been working on and off track on a number of projects together over this time. We will continue to work on these projects with a great deal of love and respect for one another.
