TRAGIOUS NEWS: Fernando Alonso has left because of…
Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso has announced his retirement from the sport as long as Aston Martin fields elite drivers.
During a recent interview, the Spanish driver talked about his much-discussed retirement with his sponsors, Bang & Olufsen. While he had meant to retire ten years ago, he assured supporters that he has no intention of doing so anytime soon.
Alonso has finished third in each of the three races this season. With 45 points, he is now in third place in the drivers’ championship, ahead of Lewis Hamilton (38 points) and following only Sergio Perez (54 points).
whether asked whether he could decide to give up on the sport, Alonso responded as follows:
“I want to know the answer as well.
“I wanted to be in Formula One for seven or eight years when I first started.” Upon winning the two titles, I made the decision to continue racing for a further year or two.
“Even though my Formula One career has been the longest to date, I’m still youthful, motivated, and loving every minute of it.” Yes, I still have a few years to live, and maybe then I’ll be a candidate for the crown.
“A third-world title is undoubtedly the objective, but for the time being, I think we need to remain realistic.” The team’s sole objective is to finish the season strong. They faced numerous challenges in 2022, so I think we should “walk before we run,” as they say.
“I think the objective of the 2023 campaign is to make improvements, learn more about the car, and immediately start a new project, and that’s where we are at the moment. We should aim for more podium finishes and race wins, but I think the team has to make some changes in order to be competitive for the title.
