Sad News: Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett is no longer with the team because of…
The NFL fined Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens for acting unsportsmanlikely during Week 16’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The incident that occurred with 9:47 remaining in the third quarter resulted in Pickens receiving a $16,391 fine from the league. Pickens was moving into the end zone on his second touchdown reception of the game when a Bengals defender penalized him for a foul. Interestingly, Pickens did not receive a penalty flag for this behavior during the real game.
In that particular game against the Bengals, Pickens put up a fantastic performance, concluding with four receptions for an incredible 195 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the penalties, Pickens’ on-field efforts showed his skill and contribution to the game. Three times already this season, Pickens has been penalized; the first two infractions were against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7.
Oddly enough, Pickens’ spectacular performance against the Bengals not only demonstrated his receiving prowess but also signaled a sea change in his career. Pickens’ first-ever 1,000-yard mark was a significant accomplishment that highlighted his growing impact in the Steelers’ offensive lineup.
Mason Rudolph is set to get his second start against the Seattle Seahawks in the next game, so Pickens will be trying to put up yet another strong performance. The receiver’s ability to reliably increase the team’s offensive output and his knack for big plays make him an important figure to keep an eye on in forthcoming games. Pickens remains dedicated to leading the team to victory and building on his outstanding 2023 season despite the penalty.
