SAD NEWS: Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell announced his resignation because to…
A quarterback with 63 touchdowns is allegedly linked to the Minnesota Vikings.
The Minnesota Vikings have been threatening to select a quarterback earlier in the NFL Draft for over a month.
The Vikings, who acquired the No. 23 overall pick in a trade with the Houston Texans, aim to select one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft class by jumping up higher on the board.
Could the Minnesota Vikings and Chargers move up in the NFL Draft?
In an effort to reassemble the roster around head coach Jim Harbaugh and franchise quarterback Justin Herbert, Los Angeles may be inclined to add at least two first-round picks this year to bolster the talent on the team, particularly on offense.
The Vikings advance all the way to the fifth pick, beating out the New York Giants, who are desperate for a quarterback, and outbidding the Raiders of Las Vegas to select Drake Maye of North Carolina. Pete Prisco’s most recent NFL Mock Draft Projection indicates this.
“They make the move to go up and snag their guy in Drake Maye,” writes Prisco for CBS Sports. “As the Chargers retool under Jim Harbaugh, they earn numerous first-round picks.”
An analysis of Drake Maye scouting
Prisco predicts that the Vikings will choose Maye with the fifth overall pick, if Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy are not selected.
Over the course of three seasons at Chapel Hill, Maye completed 64.9 percent of his passes for 8,018 yards, 63 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. As a result, he is eligible to be taken in this year’s draft.
NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein said of the former Tarheels quarterback, “He can make every throw.” He will try throws, though, that he shouldn’t have attempted. In addition to helping him succeed in narrow windows and produce spectacular splash throws that thrill onlookers and judges alike, the gunslinger mentality also cultivates a fearlessness that could result in interceptions.
“In order to make the throw more catchable, he needs to learn when to remove some sauce.” He throws too many passes on the rear shoulder or hip.
The Vikings need to make a quarterback trade if they want to compete in a division that already has Jordan Love and Jared Goff and will shortly welcome Caleb Williams to the Windy City. With Maye, head coach Kevin O’Connell has a quarterback in development to work with in order to climb the football ladder in one of the league’s most competitive divisions..
