SAD NEWS: Lewis Hamilton, a Formula 1 driver, has passed away.
Since making his Formula 1 début in 2010, Nico Hulkenberg has gained a reputation as a dependable driver. Over the course of his 14-year career, the 36-year-old German has made 209 starts and has never won a race, though he has come close a few times.
He had previously held the record for the most starts without finishing on the podium for a good while. He now has more starts without a victory than the previous record. Andrea de Cesaris held the record before to Hulkenberg’s 209th start in Miami.
Hulkenberg has proven he can accelerate a vehicle; most recently, he accomplished so when driving for Haas since the start of the 2023 season. But because there are some extremely talented drivers on the field and he hasn’t yet been given the chance to drive a magnificent car, luck hasn’t been on his side.
There were moments in the past when Hulkenberg could have won. He was the first person to qualify for Force India in the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix, for example. His hopes of winning for the first time were dashed when he and Lewis Hamilton collided while he was leading.
Could Nico Hulkenberg’s situation soon change?
Since joining the team last year, he has been a huge benefit to Haas, but he most surely won’t be winning any races or finishing on the podium this season. It just won’t happen until ridiculous things like a lot of safety vehicles or unfavorable weather happen during a race.
Hulkenberg is optimistic about the future, though, particularly once the new regulations take effect and Audi purchases the team in 2026. It has been revealed that he will be joining Sauber for the next season.
The goodwill around Sauber’s impending period is strengthened by their close relationship with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. If Audi enters the Formula 1 grid as strongly as anticipated, Hulkenberg’s first victory may still happen at this stage of his career. De Cesaris might also take back the unwanted record he had just broken.
Even though Hulkenberg presently holds the record for the most starts without a podium finish, most fans still think highly of his career. Everyone will be ecstatic for him if he wins, just as they were in Miami not too long ago for Lando Norris.
