SAD NEWS: Patrick Mahomes recently signed an agreement to be transferred because of…
Against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, the Minnesota Twins discovered that no game will be perfect.
Although losing 6-1 is never ideal, Minnesota doesn’t appear to be too concerned. Despite the loss, the Twins remain very much in charge of the Royals this season, and they will have a chance to complete a double-series victory over their AL Central opponents on Thursday.
Not only would Minnesota have the upper hand in the division race, but they would also maintain their lead if they defeated the Royals. Leading into Thursday’s series finale, Kansas City leads the AL Central in second place, converting a Twins-style offseason into a winning one.
A win would keep the Twins on track for a comeback and send a message to Kansas City that things in your rearview mirror are frequently closer than they look, even though Minnesota cannot catch the Royals in this series.
Twins vs. Royals on May 30: Potential starting pitchers
The Twins will want to end the series with Chris Paddack (4-2, 4.39 ERA) on Thursday afternoon. The Sheriff has been successful at Target Field; he is 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA at home and had an outstanding performance last week against the Rangers. Paddack, who pitched five innings and allowed just two runs on two hits against the Royals, will try to build on that performance.
On Thursday, Paddack will play his first game against the Royals this season and his third AL Central matchup. He destroyed the White Sox back in April then pitched eight great innings against the Guardians before the game was lost.
Having previously faced the Twins this season, Brady Singer (4-2, 2.63 ERA) is certainly eager to take on them again. Singer was the starting pitcher in Kansas City’s 11-0 victory over Minnesota in the third game of the season. He struck out ten Twins hitters in his seven spotless innings of work.
That was the start of Minnesota’s offensive issues, so it would be fitting if the team defeated Singer on Thursday to put an end to those ghosts.
