After a single hole in the maiden Korn Ferry Tour event, Alabbamas are eliminated.
Alabama is suspended for violating the NFL rules.
The Australian was taking part in the first Korn Ferry Tour tournament of the season, the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay Golf Club. But according to Ryan French of Monday Q Info, things went horribly wrong very quickly after his first performance on the tour.
Lyras dropped a ball in front of the penalty area, believing he had struck it into the water that fills the majority of the right side of the hole. By then, though, he was trailing behind the other two members of the group, and Kozan informed Lyras that his original ball had really escaped the water and was still playable.
The error Lyras made was picking up the ball he had dropped and using it to finish the hole instead of using his original ball. Since a ball becomes in play when it is dropped, that turned out to be against the rules.
One hole into his career on the Korn Ferry Tour, John Lyras was disqualified due to an expensive rookie error. Since Lyras finished one stroke short of a guaranteed KFT start, the specifics of a DQ that might prove costly for him were revealed at Q-school. My account: This link is: t.co/4bBII14ppS tweet.pic.
