Head coach of the Ottawa Redblacks Bob Dyce unveils his coaching staff for 2024
Ottawa Redblacks head coach Dyce presents the 2024 roster
On Monday, Dyce, who is starting his second full season as head coach of Ottawa, revealed his 2024 team. Barron Miles will return for a second season as defensive coordinator, but Alex Suber, who will teach defensive backs for the first time, and rookie linebacker Deion Melvin will headline the Redblacks defensive staff.
The other newcomers are offensive lineman Pat Perles and offensive coordinator Tommy Condell. Among the other returning players is Nadia Doucoure, who was hired as Ottawa’s offensive quality control coach last year, making her the second-ever female CFL coach to receive a full-time position.
For the 2024 season, the Ottawa Redblacks’ coaching staff will have both familiar and lots of new faces.
In order to keep money, they have also spent some money.
That would be Monshadrik (Money) Hunter, an American defensive back who signed a one-year contract to play for the team in his third season.
Before joining Ottawa in 2022, the 28-year-old product of Arkansas State played in two seasons in Edmonton and one in Montreal.
Last season, Hunter’s playing time was restricted to just four games due to a torn pectoral muscle he sustained during training camp.
The former MLB player Torii Hunter is the father of this man.
In the meantime, Pat Perles, the new offensive line coach, may be the most intriguing addition to head coach Bob Dyce’s staff. Perles coached five seasons in the NFL, first as an assistant defensive coach for the Los Angeles Rams in 1992โ1993 and as an assistant offensive line coach and defensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009โ2011. In addition, he has a wealth of experience coaching college football. He coached offensive lines for Hamilton, Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, and Toronto in the CFL and USFL.
In addition, he is the son of George Perles, a former coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Michigan State.
Deion Melvin, a former Saskatchewan player, will take over as the new linebackers coach.
Alex Suber, the defensive backs coach, is coming back to the Redblacks after leaving before the season to accept a position at Middle Tennessee State University, his alma school.
An announcement about the appointment of a new defensive line coach is anticipated shortly.
Early in December, Tommy Condell, a former offensive coordinator for the Ticats, agreed to become the next offensive coordinator for the Redblacks.
Returning to his role as defensive coordinator is Barron Miles.
The following players are also returning: special teams player Cory McDiarmid, running back Nate Taylor, receiver Travis Moore, and coach assistant Nadia Doucoure.
“I’m thrilled to announce the additions of Tommy, Alex, Pat, and Deion to the group, and I’m glad to have Barron, Cory, Nathan, Travis, and Nadia remain on staff,” Dyce added. “The new instructors are full of energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge. The players’ expertise and youth blend well, and we’re all excited to work with them and have a successful 2024 campaign.
