After getting into a car accident, Miami Heat player Haywood Highsmith will not be playing against the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
The team declared that the collision happened after Highsmith departed Kaseya Center after the Heat defeated the Orlando Magic. Regarding the accident’s seriousness, The Heat remained silent.
The Heat said in a statement, “We have been informed that Highsmith was involved in an automobile accident traveling home following last night’s game.” For personal reasons, Highsmith is listed as unavailable for tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured.We will not be providing any more comments at this time.
Throughout the last two seasons, Highsmith has been an integral member of the Heat. On Tuesday against the Magic, he was in the starting lineup until Caleb Martin took his position. Highsmith, a former player on a two-way deal, advanced to a rotation berth in the previous campaign.
He was a vital component of the group that went on to face the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals the previous season. Highsmith is averaging 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds so far this season.
