PHILADELPHIA: Bryce Harper attempted to make sense of everything while positioned behind a sea of notepads and microphones.
On Sunday, Harper and the Phillies were meant to be in Philadelphia getting ready for Game 3 of the World Series against the Texas Rangers, not idly deciding on early family getaways and tee times at home.
They were an NLCS squad that was wealthier, more skilled, and more seasoned than the Arizona Diamondbacks. The final two games were played at their boisterous ballpark in Philadelphia. The Diamondbacks were having a party on the field when they abruptly stopped winning and hitting.
Standing in the solitude of the clubhouse now, Harper expressed regret to the Philadelphia fans for narrowly missing a game-winning three-run home run in the seventh inning. This apology will follow him into spring training.
“Man, it was really awful for me not to be able to come through in that time,” Harper remarked. I feel as though I failed both the city of Philadelphia and my team.
“I feel like I have to step up at this point.”
The Phillies fan base fell in love with Harper all over again after seeing how sincere and emotional Harper’s apology was.
The owner of the Phillies, John Middleton, stated USA TODAY Sports, “I have never seen an athlete in any sport who resonates more with the Philadelphia crowd than Bryce.” “I refer to any sportsman in Philadelphia’s past.
He’s made a special effort to express his appreciation for this place and to the fans. Hey, anybody among the fandom finds that offensive? However, I’m sure the Philadelphia fanbase would prefer to hear that more than any other fandom out of all of them.
