Mike Evans Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR,Was Suspended For Violating
Mike Evans has only ever been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL. By 2024, that won’t have changed.
A week before the wide receiver was scheduled to become a free agent, he and the Buccaneers agreed to a two-year contract. The $52 million deal, which includes a $35 million guaranteed portion, was disclosed by his agent to ESPN.
The Athletic revealed last week that Evans was determined to explore the free agency market. On Wednesday, March 13, the formal start of the new league year, he would have become a free agent and could have begun lawfully speaking with other teams the following Monday. Evans would have been eligible to get the franchise tag from Tampa Bay by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
Evans was selected by Tampa Bay with the seventh overall pick in 2014 from Texas A&M, where he was teammates with the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.
Over 1,000 receiving yards have been gained by Evans in each of his ten professional seasons. After spending his first season with quarterback Baker Mayfield last year, he finished with 1,255 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He has had 46 touchdown receptions in the regular season since 2020. Together with fellow wideout Chris Godwin, Evans helped the team win Super Bowl 55 and has established one of the NFL’s most dependable receiving tandems.
