Sheila Hamp Owner Detroit Lions Annuonced that QB Jared Goff is no Longer
Since Detroit fans jeered owner Sheila Hamp at Calvin Johnson’s Ford Field Hall of Fame ring presentation, the team has gone a long way. Even outside of football and during away games, the cries of “sell the team” have been replaced by “Let’s go Lions” and “Jared Goff.”
Without an enthusiastic, patient owner who also possessed humility and guts, the squad would not have been able to transform as they did. In Detroit, Hamp has shown himself to be the ideal candidate for the job.
However, in the list of the 32 NFL owners, where does the matriarch of the Lions stand?
In December, Hamp was rated twenty-third in the annual owner ratings by The Athletic and analyst Mike Sando.
Given the circumstances, Hamp seems to be ranked fairly. Hamp received coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn from her well-intentioned but uninvolved mother, Martha Ford, as observed by commentator Mike Sando. It took some time for the transition into the team revamp, skillfully carried out by general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell, to really get going.
23rd feels rather low now that the Lions have won two playoff games in the same postseason for the first time since the Super Bowl era and completed their first NFC North championship. Hamp should be commended for persevering through a strategy that would have been simple to give up on, and for providing the team with the tools it needs to keep improving.
