Josh Heupel and his wife signed a divorce agreement.
Josh Heupel and his spouse executed a separation contract.
The national media continues to be quite critical of head coach Josh Heupel despite his accomplishments in his first three seasons at UT.
Heupel has led the squad to three straight bowl trips after taking over a program that was deemed extinct in 2021. The team has gone 27-12 during his leadership.
When the 2024 season gets off, the Vols are expected to be a contender for a national title. Georgia will undoubtedly be the favorite, but Tennessee still has a strong chance of qualifying for the twelve-team college football playoff. And just by showing up to the dance, you have a chance in this new age of college football.
Heupel has won three straight seasons, including over Dabo Swinney, Brian Kelly, and Nick Saban, yet he was not included on 247Sports’ list of seven coaches who may win their first national title in 2024.
On the list of those who “did not make the cut” was Heupel.
Heupel was excluded in favor of players like Lane Kiffin, Mike Norvell, and Kalen DeBoer.
Heupel should not be on the list at all. I’m not sure how DeBoer, who hasn’t coached in the SEC since he lost the majority of the excellent players he signed at Alabama to the transfer portal, is on the list and Heupel isn’t.
Besides, it would be silly to choose Kiffin above Heupel based only on his inventions in gateways. Culture matters. Ole Miss lacks culture as well. Instead, they will need to get along in 2024 since their squad is diversified and includes players from all around the globe. Though the Rebels have a formidable lineup on paper, one should be mindful that looks may be misleading. The New York Mets of 2023 are a great illustration of this.
Heupel is said to hold onto receipts. He has to be aware of the enthusiasm that other coaches are displaying.
The news is excellent for the Vols. It seems that Heupel’s clubs play their best as underdogs. Tennessee has a talented team heading into the 2024 season, led by maybe the finest quarterback in the nation. The sky is the limit for the Vols come October. Heupel is certainly keen to refute his critics.
