The Red Wings defenseman talks about taking in the sights while in Stockholm and how fans and team legends inspire him.
During the Fastenal-sponsored 2023 NHL Global Series in Sweden, Moritz Seider will be blogging for NHL.com. The Detroit Red Wings defenseman talks about their Monday off, watching practice on Tuesday with Detroit Red Wings fans, and having team legends Henrik Zetterberg and Nicklas Lidstrom watch. At Stockholm’s Avicii Arena, the Red Wings take on the Ottawa Senators on Thursday (2 p.m. ET; RDS, TSN5, NHLN, BSDET) and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.
Without a doubt, we gained some insight into the city. It was a great time. We took advantage of the few hours of daylight and explored the city. It was very tiring because we took a lot of walks and covered a lot of ground. It was excellent. We stepped outdoors and took a moment to get used to the new time. We came together as a group, had a really good supper, and undoubtedly bonded during that time. We went to bed early so that we could start working here today.
We finally got Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat to participate in a Swedish fika. I believe everyone had fun when we took them, sat down in a lovely café, and shared a delicious little gift and coffee. We had fantastic conversations and a terrific time as a group.
It was an Asian fusion restaurant with a set dinner menu, and it was excellent. There was a beautiful small steak as the main course, some veggies, a couple of fried items, and a little bit of everything else. I think everyone really loved the really nice assortment of food.
I think it’s fantastic that people are here taking in the town. We were quite pleased to go out there because, in our opinion, the supporters did a fantastic job of welcoming us to the arena today. It was also a highly beneficial exercise. We completed some work and addressed some system issues; all in all, I believe it was a really productive day.
It’s amazing and really exciting to see Red Wings legends wherever you look. However, since we have a lot to represent here, I believe that preparation for the games also comes with a responsibility. Along with the club, we also hope to bring out all the Swedish legends who have played for this organization and have a truly successful time.
Some of the guys discussed taking a boat trip tomorrow, possibly to the Viking Museum. It’s really just to get outside, stroll around, breathe in the clean air, and soak up as much sunshine as you can, in my opinion.
