Sherrone Moore files for divorce from wife.
On February 26, Orgeron submitted the divorce petition. He and his spouse “have lived separate and apart without reconciliation since that date,” according to the petition, which was filed on February 24.
The Orgerons, who recently marked their 23rd wedding anniversary on February 19, own homes in Mandeville and at the University Club in Baton Rouge.
Orgeron claims in the divorce petition that he is entitled to sole possession and use of the Baton Rouge marital residence. Kelly Orgeron’s request to have sole possession and use of a Mandeville home is acceptable to him “until such time as the communal property is settled either by customary agreement or judicial partition.”
The two Orgerons, who had previously separated, went on a blind date in late December 1996 while Ed Orgeron was in Memphis supporting Syracuse for their Liberty Bowl game.
Kelly agreed to drive an hour from her Lake City, Arkansas, home to meet Orgeron at a Liberty Bowl practice, thanks to the influence of a mutual acquaintance. They went on an elopement and got married in less than two months.
The Orgerons have endured a lot since getting married. First, Ed lost his job as head coach of Ole Miss in 2007, then they split up for five years while Ed worked as an assistant coach at Tennessee and Southern California, with the family residing in Mandeville. Finally, in 2013, Ed was disappointed not to be hired as head coach of USC, despite going 6-2 in his interim role.
The Orgerons have three sons: 22-year-old twins Cody and Parker, who completed their NCAA football careers at McNeese State last season, and Tyler, who is from Kelly’s previous marriage.
