Over the previous two seasons, the Rams’ injury ranking went from 31st to 1st.
The Los Angeles Rams of 2022 were a train wreck, with several injuries sustained in the wreckage. In terms of adjusted games lost owing to injuries on the offensive line alone in 2022, the Rams lead the NFL, according to Aaron Schatz of FTN Fantasy (previously of FootballOutsiders). Even the injuries to Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp, and Matthew Stafford are not included in that.
It is claimed that injuries of that kind would cause some regression in the following season, and the Rams have proven that to be true.
The Rams recorded the fewest adjusted game losses owing to injuries in 2023 following a horribly unfortunate season of injuries in 2022: 2023 saw a league-low 26.4 adjusted games lost, down from 146.6 adjusted games lost in 2022.
Only 15.5 AGL were on offense and 10.9 AGL were on defense for the Rams.
While injuries forced Matthew Stafford to miss one start, Kupp to miss the first four games, Kyren Williams to miss five, and Ernest Jones to miss one, Sean McVay was able to play the starters he wanted to start most of the season.
How does that affect the Los Angeles Rams in 2024? Perhaps they’ll return to their average or mean season rather than having a dismal season due to injuries. If the Rams aren’t overly greedy and finish outside of the top 10 next season, they should be content with their move from 31st to 1st place in the AGL.
Unlike the 2022 season, it would be possible to survive anywhere in the middle.
