SAD NEWS: Vols head coach Josh Heupel revealed that he won’t be able to…
Head coach of Tennessee football Josh Heupel is about to begin his fourth season in that role. During the first three seasons of his tenure, the defensive secondary has not performed well. Heupel plans to improve that by adding features to the transfer portal and the recruiting trail.
Heupel added true freshman Boo Carter, who enrolled early to experience his first collegiate spring camp, as a significant boost to the secondary. All parties have benefited greatly from this, as Tennessee is able to get a closer look at Carter and Carter has the chance to become familiar with the defense early on.
So far, it appears that neither party is dissatisfied. Due to his impressive performance, Carter may have a chance to be included in the secondary rotation for the upcoming season. In the lead-up to the 2024 Orange & White Game, DB Coach Willie Martinez and Special Teams Coordinator Mike Ekeler have been heaping praise on Carter.
Squirrel White, a wide receiver for Tennessee, also expressed high comments on Carter, referring to him as a unique individual in his brief stay at Rocky Top. “How unique is Boo Carter? He makes plays like a playmaker as he flies to the ball. rerouting us and other such actions. executing strong tackles.”
On Saturday, Carter won’t be the only rookie trying to make an impression on Vol Nation and the coaches. A few first-year players for the Vols are hoping to have an impact this season, and the Orange & White Game is the first opportunity.
The yearly Orange & White Game in Tennessee will begin at 1:00 PM ET on Saturday, April 13. There will only be 10,000 seats available. Nevertheless, Vol Village will be open at the university so that everyone can take in the spring game and Saturday night’s baseball game between Tennessee and LSU.
