Andy Gray remains “quite concerned” about Everton’s loss to Manchester City.
Before receiving a ten-point deduction last month, Everton appeared to be safely safe from relegation, but the harsh penalty knocked them back to the foot of the table.
After being beaten 3-0 by Manchester United a few days later, things appeared much worse; nevertheless, their subsequent performance gave them immense hope.
This month, Everton won four straight games in the Premier League while giving up zero goals and defeating Newcastle United and Chelsea.
But since then, Fulham have eliminated them from the Carabao Cup, and they have also lost to Tottenham and Manchester City.
They are now just one point above the relegation zone in the league table after suffering back-to-back losses.
Even though they appear to have much improved since the beginning of the season, Everton’s point deduction has made things extremely difficult for them, and Andy Gray is still “nervous” about the possibility of winning the championship.
Gray stated, “That run there was a terrific response after Manchester United,” in an interview with beIN Sports. I got a strange sensation that we would be kicked in the teeth by Manchester United. I had the strange impression that there was too much going on in the game for the players to handle. Not only did it feel wrong, but I wasn’t as perplexed as many others were.
However, the next four have had excellent performances. They’ve been incredibly difficult to play against and lively, and they seem like they can score goals now.
“It’s unfortunate that Doucoure won’t be playing; he poses a serious threat.” It’s only normal that I’m still a little nervous since it’s my team, so I’m still a little worried if I’m being honest with you.
Is Everton going to miss the cut?
If Everton hadn’t lost points, they would have been eleven points above the bottom three in the Premier League and in 10th place.
Although many Everton supporters will be understandably concerned, I believe the team would need to drastically underperform in the second half of the season in order to be surpassed by teams like Burnley and Sheffield United. The Toffees’ performances have been far superior to those of the other teams surrounding them.
It would be shocking if Sean Dyche’s squad finished the season in last place because Everton looks to be dominating the teams around them and has even shown some amazing performances against the “bigger” teams.
