Steelers reportedly trying to trade up for Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell
Many people will be keeping a close eye on the Pittsburgh Steelers when the NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday night. They might be a target for a trade by teams looking to advance, or they might try to acquire a player with the 20th pick that they think will be gone by the time they get it. Tony Pauline is hearing that’s precisely what they are going to do.
Pauline reports that the Steelers are attempting to move into the top 15 in order to acquire Quinyon Mitchell, a cornerback out of Toledo.
Pauline stated, “I’ve been informed that the Steelers and Broncos are discussing the possibility of a trade because Pittsburgh is another team that has their eye on Mitchell and would move up to draft him.”
Right now, the No. 12 pick in the NFL Draft belongs to the Broncos.
Given their current lack of depth in the secondary, the Steelers will probably select a cornerback at some point in this draft. But anybody would be surprised if a cornerback were traded up for in the first round.
Mitchell enjoyed a fantastic season in 2023—and in 2022, too. Over the previous two seasons, he has intercepted six passes and allowed only 54 catches on 132 targets.
