The Wolverines and Huskies will play in the College Football championship game after Monday night’s Rose and Sugar Bowl championships.
Encouraged by Tom Brady’s well-wishes for the Michigan Wolverines ahead of their Rose Bowl matchup with Alabama, the former NFL player who attended the University of Michigan appears to have paid off as the “maize and blue” team advanced to the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship final in Pasadena with a victory over Alabama.
It wasn’t all easy sailing, though, as the Wolverines needed extra time in the Rose Bowl after the game was deadlocked in normal time in order to defeat a tenacious Alabama Crimson Tide squad, winning 27-20 in overtime.
The game was close, with neither team able to take a big lead. The Wolverines were even down late in the fourth quarter when Roman Wilson was found by J.J. McCarthy for a 4-yard score with just over ninety seconds left.
The Michigan team will try to add to its 11 championship titles when they play the Washington Huskies in the CFP Championship Game on January 8. The Wolverines were the top seed in the division, while the Crimson Tide was in fourth place.
