A defensive coordinator will be selected by the New England Patriots

Following the departure of legendary coach Bill Belichick after 24 seasons and the hiring of Jerod Mayo as head coach, the New England Patriots have a lot of work ahead of them this offseason. The Patriots replaced their head coach after finishing 4-13, their worst record in almost 20 years, and now they have completed the coaching staff. After experiencing their worst year in decades, they will attempt to completely rebuild with the third overall pick in the draft.DeMarcus Covington is joining the New England Patriots.

It has been revealed that the Patriots have selected their defensive coordinator; however, they are still seeking an offensive coordinator. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated claims that DeMarcus Covington, a defensive line coach, will be hired. After four seasons as the defensive line coach, Covington ought to be promoted to defensive coordinator.

In addition to seeing star Matthew Judon play some of his finest football while in New England, he has assisted with the development of players like Christian Barmore and Deatrich Wise. It was later revealed that the Patriots informed other applicants that Covington would be taking over as the new DC for head coach Jerod Mayo.Hiring Covington fits with New England’s strategy of developing from within and bringing in talent from within the company.

Jerod Mayo still needs to work a lot. This should be the first domino to fall, and Mayo will have a lot of work to do this offseason to get this squad back on track. Additionally, they will need to find a new offensive coordinator because Bill O’Brian is leaving them and returning to collegiate football. They will have a huge draft and free agency this year to add more talent once they have the coaching staff in place.

According to reports, Mayo made some significant decisions, including selecting a quarterback with the third overall pick and signing additional players in free agency. On Monday, Mayo stated, “We’re bringing in talent 1,000 percent,” on The Greg Hill Show on WEEI. “We have plenty of cash and cap space.

We’re prepared to spend some money! It’s obvious that a new era has arrived in New England, and Mayo is moving quickly to rebuild this team’s competitiveness for the upcoming season. Due to the lack of genuine interest in anyone else, DeMarcus Covington will be the first major move to be made. In order to turn this squad around, they will need to find an offensive coordinator quickly because they can focus entirely on the draft and free agency after they have all of the coaching staff in place.
