Titans blaze Tim Kelly and several members of Mike Vrabel’s team
According to reports, the Tennessee Titans have started the process of cutting Mike Vrabel’s staff.
Paul Kuharsky reports that offensive coordinator Tim Kelly was sacked, and other people are also being let go; however, Kuharsky does not specifically name any of them.
Additionally, Kuharsky notes that John Streicher, the director of football administration, is no longer included on the team’s website.
Callahan informed Tim Kelly last night that he was leaving. The same has been told to others, but they haven’t revealed it yet.
The director of football administration for Vrabel, John Streicher, is no longer mentioned on the team’s website.
Given that Brian Callahan, the incoming head coach, will be assembling his own staff, this purge is not surprising.
Over the past several weeks, a number of Titans coaches have been offered interviews for positions elsewhere, and tight ends coach Tony Dews has accepted the position of running backs coach with the New York Jets.
We would want to see the Titans retain part of their current coaching staff, including Charles London, the quarterbacks coach, and Terrell Williams, the defensive line coach.
That seems less likely to occur, though, in light of the most recent information and the reports that London is open to exploring other options.
