Bengals to play in Super Bowl 58 as a WWII veteran
According to Ashley Kirklen of WLWT5, a longtime Cincinnati Bengals season ticket holder, she will be attending Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas on the team’s dime.
Dearborn County resident and 97-year-old World War II veteran George Klopp Sr. said he can still clearly recall his first Bengals game, an exhibition versus the Kansas City Chiefs in 1968, when the team made its debut in Cincinnati. Klopp has attended practically every game in Cincinnati since then.
His best Bengals fan memories are of the 1980s Super Bowl teams and the 1981 Freezer Bowl, an AFC Championship game versus the San Diego Chargers played in minus 23 degrees, the worst wind chill on record. Bengals victory was 27–7.
Before the game on Friday and continuing through Monday, Klopp and his son will be in Las Vegas.
