Former offensive tackle for Alabama football, Kadyn Proctor, is returning home. Proctor made his transfer portal commitment to Iowa on Saturday.
Proctor and Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports shared the news on their social media accounts. In 2023, he will start all of the Crimson Tide’s games at left tackle.
Prior to switching to the Crimson Tide, the 6-foot-7, 360-pound Proctor had pledged to the Hawkeyes during his recruiting. Out of Southeast Polk, he was a five-star talent in the class of 2023.
Proctor and Elijah Pritchett battled for the starting position as true freshmen. Even though he struggled at the beginning of the season, by the end, he had turned things around and established himself as the starting left tackle.
In November, Nick Saban, the former coach of Alabama, remarked to Proctor, “He’s getting better.” “He is performing better. His confidence has increased. I believe he knows what to do, but because of his self-assurance, he occasionally felt uneasy carrying out his duties, even when he was aware of them. That is all contingent on confidence.
By the end of the season, he had been selected by the coaches in the conference for the freshman all-SEC team.
Proctor comes to Iowa, which does not have an offensive coordinator at the moment. After several horrible years leading the team, Brian Ferentz was sacked after the 2023 season; his father, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, has not yet appointed a replacement.
After Saban announced his retirement and Alabama hired Kalen DeBoer as head coach, Proctor was among a wave of portal exits. A 30-day window was made available for Crimson Tide athletes to access the transfer site following their retirement.
