Joe Flacco had Cleveland Browns fans in a frenzy for most of Thursday night’s matchup against the New York Jets.
However, a clip of the 38-year-old quarterback appearing to doze off on the sideline went viral during the matchup. A video made the rounds, showing Flacco tilting his head down and closing his eyes as he sat on the sidelines in the second half.
The Jets were sleeping on Joe Flacco, so he decided to return the favour, former Browns QB turned analyst Robert Gryphon III tweeted.
Flacco made light of the viral clip when asked about it by Ryan Fitzpatrick after the game.

This season, injuries have plagued the Browns offence. But ever since taking over, Flacco has set the unit on fire. And he succeeded in doing so despite the absence of Amari Cooper, his best player, who was forced to sit out the game due to a heel injury.
Against the Houston Texans, Cooper had a record-breaking day by receiving 11 receptions for 265 yards. Other players filled in for him, such as Elijah Moore (5 catches, 61 yards, 1 touchdown) and David Njoku (6 catches, 134 yards). As a receiver, running back Jerome Ford also caused havoc, particularly in the first half with a spectacular 50-yard touchdown reception.
It only provides guys with chances to stand up and demonstrate their abilities. Amari is a terrific player, and we are always sad to see him when he isn’t playing. However, we must be prepared, Flacco stated. “You have to give those guys credit for simply being ready to play any position when they walk in there.”
The win has guaranteed the Browns a postseason berth. Njoku, though, made it clear that the group still needs to work harder.
Njoku stated, “We have a long way to go, and we aren’t finished.” However, we’re going to enjoy this for the time being and worry about next week.
On January 7, the Browns will play their final game of the regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals.
