Rapper Drake has wagered more than half a million dollars on Tyson Fury to win this weekend’s undisputed heavyweight title bout against Oleksandr Usyk.
In an attempt to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, WBC champion Tyson Fury will defend his title against the Ukrainian and win the WBA, IBF, and WBO belts on Saturday night at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Legendary fighters like Mike Tyson and Conor McGregor have backed the Gypsy King this week to maintain his undefeated record and defeat Usky, but Canadian hip-hop artist Drake has taken it a step further and wagered $565,000 that Fury will win on Saturday.
Drake will receive an incredible $1,000,050 if the 35-year-old Fury defeats Usyk for the first time in his career. Australian-Curacaoan online casino Stake.com is offering odds of 1.77 on a Fury victory.
However, given Drake’s history of supporting boxers and the alleged “curse” that goes along with it, Fury, who was born in Wythenshawe, might be the last person to hear the five-time Grammy winner’s support on fight night.
Drake bet $615,000 on the Cameroonian fighter Francis Ngannou to win his debut professional boxing match against Anthony Joshua in March to express his support for the former UFC champion. That wager, though, was quickly dashed when Joshua defeated Ngannou in Saudi Arabia with a devastating second-round knockout.
Drake’s bad luck with betting also reaches the UFC, as the rapper has lost more than $1,000,000 overall when backing Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland in fights over the past year.
But he did win more than $3.7 million when he supported Liverpool-born mixed martial artists Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann at UFC London in August 2022. The enormous winnings allowed him to purchase a Rolex for each of the fighters.
