Alcaraz’s coach says he draws inspiration from Djokovic to further his own development.
Novak Djokovic is a big source of inspiration for Carlos Alcaraz, and his coach helps with that.
Alcaraz acknowledged last year that he was consumed with pursuing Djokovic’s records and the top spot in the world rankings. If this fixation were real, some people did voice concerns.
The Spaniard saw it largely in his determination to defeat him, which he accomplished by observing him.He keeps an eye on him during training and games in an effort to comprehend what made him so dominant for the majority of his career.
It’s not always just him; Juan Carlos Ferrero, his coach, contributes as well. The Spaniard has ranked first on the ATP Tour throughout his career, so he is well aware of what it takes to be the best, but he also provides Alcaraz with other players to motivate him even more.
“In every statistic, Djokovic is superior to everyone else,” Wawrinka said during the GOAT debate on Friday, February 23, 2024.
“After spending time with him at competitions, you witness his drive, the reason he is in top physical shape to compete, his self-care, his training regimen, and his ongoing inspiration.”
It is greatly admirable to me. I enjoy taking cues from the players and using them to illustrate points for Carlos; naturally, Novak is a constant example.”
In an additional interview with the Argentine newspaper La Nacion, Ferrero stated that he believes the current crop of players has the potential to inflict some harm, something that wasn’t the case in previous years due to the dominance of the Big Three.
Carlos has always shown a lot of interest in Rafa, so I didn’t have to show him too much about him. He then searches for the training’s mental level and intensity.”
“I believe that the upcoming generation is excellent, and maybe they will put in a little more effort to win Grand Slams. In the past 20 years, the circle was extremely closed with the Big 3.
