During his first news conference last week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ new offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, said, “I was taught in times of crisis to think players, not plays.”
In theory, the Buccaneers’ emphasis on getting the ball to their best players sounds great, but at the moment, it’s hindered by the fact that two of their most important offensive players—wide receiver Mike Evans and quarterback Baker Mayfield—are eligible for free agency.
The Bucs are eager for 2024 after a 9-8 campaign in which they faced the Lions difficultly in the Super Wild Card Round, but questions remain regarding Mayfield and Evans’ futures.
During his conversation on his future with the Bucs with NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano and Daniel Jeremiah from Las Vegas, Mayfield confirmed earlier rumors that claimed he will soon be returning to Tampa Bay after making the most of his one-year deal there in 2023.
