The turbulent offseason came to an official conclusion on Monday. For Alabama football, this is a new age that brings with it new names, schemes, and uniform changes to Tuscaloosa.
This afternoon is the first practice of the spring. More than 25 players on the Crimson Tide roster will have new numbers. Deontae Lawson, the starting weakside linebacker, will wear No. 0 among the players who are currently swapping. Since the NCAA authorized the number in 2020, he is the first player from UA to do so.
Parker Brailsford, a Washington transfer who is projected to start at center, retains his Huskies uniform number of 72. Germie Bernard, a former UW receiver, will be number five. Transfer to Michigan Terrion Arnold’s No. 3 will now be worn by Keon Sabb. Domani Jackson, a cornerback transfer from Southern California, will be Kool-Aid McKinstry’s No. 1.
Linebacker Jihaad Campbell will wear No. 11 instead of No. 30, while defensive lineman Jeheim Oatis, who chose to go by “Jeheim” rather than “Jaheim,” switched No. 91 for No. 10. Jah-Marian Latham, a defensive lineman who is returning, will be No. 20 (formerly No. 93). Additionally, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., a freshman and Nick Saban’s only remaining heritage Alabama recruit, will wear No. 21, just as his father did twelve years prior.
The updated Alabama football roster for 2024 includes:
Security No. 7: Peyton Woodyard
No. 9 cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe
