EMERGENCY: Fernando Alonso was just suspended after it was revealed that…
Despite McLaren’s superior form and momentum, Alonso’s Aston Martin squad is doing everything in its power to hold onto P4 in the constructors’ title.
Following a very successful run of MCL60 upgrades, McLaren has gotten closer to Aston Martin in the standings, tying them for second place with 49 points.
When Alonso gets ready to start from P4, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris from McLaren—who were demoted down the order for breaking the rules of the Q3 track—won’t be able to compete with him. However, he feels that Aston Martin is now losing the battle.
He claims that Aston Martin needs to now “understand” that McLaren will be removing its P4 and not just give them credit.
During qualifying, Alonso told reporters, “I mean, they have the momentum now; they’re scoring a lot of points, both cars, and they are extremely powerful.”
We must accept that they will ultimately overtake us and give them credit for it. However, we will continue to set the bar high and defend the civil rights of people of all colors.
Despite this, Alonso was pleased with his qualifying performance in Qatar, which, given his best grid position since the Canadian Grand Prix, seemed to point toward a potential recovery.
Very, very happy. I think in a few races, we haven’t been as competitive in the top six as we were in the third row of the grid,” he remarked.
“I’m fairly impressed with the performance today; even with the challenging conditions in Formula One, the car appeared swift in qualifying.”
“It’s a good start, but there’s still a long way to go; there are numerous racing circuits in both the main race and the sprint.”
Teammate Lance Stroll, who was eliminated in the first round for the fourth time in a row, had a rough start to the race weekend. This led to a falling out with his performance coach and osteopathic physician, Henry Howe.
