One of the hardest decisions Lewis Hamilton has ever made, he said, was to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari in 2025, following the most significant shift in the Formula One driver market this century.
The seven-time world champion has agreed to a multi-year contract with the Scuderia and will leave Mercedes at the end of this season. The 39-year-old driver, who has won six world championships with Mercedes, will start his 12th season with the team this year. Although he admitted that it had been a challenging choice, he believed it to be the right one.
“Mercedes has been a part of my life since I was 13 years old,” the man said. “I have grown up here, so leaving was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make.” But I’m excited to take on a new challenge, and I think now is the right time for me to do so.
