Racer Kevin Magnussen has just been suspended after a secret about him was unveiled.
Moving closer to a suspension, Kevin Magnussen has acknowledged that he will need to alter his Formula One racing style.
Magnussen is only two penalty points away from a race ban after racking up 10 in the first six rounds.
Since the system’s introduction in 2014, no driver has been forced to miss an F1 grand prix as a result of accruing an excessive number of penalty points.
In the same vein, no driver has been suspended from a race since Romain Grosjean in 2012.
Last time out in Miami, Magnussen had a rough weekend, picking up four penalties in the sprint race alone while trying to hold off Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.
Early in the season, the Dane has been in the thick of things, frequently playing strong defense to assist colleague Nico Hulkenberg in scoring points.
Speaking about his penalty point position prior to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Magnussen acknowledged that in order to avoid receiving a race ban, he will need to change his on-track behavior.
“I believe I will have to the next time there’s a race ban,” he remarked. However, I’m not sure. These circumstances, where I had to act as my teammate’s support system, have been profitable. For us, it’s been kind of useful.
“I would like it not to be possible at all because I don’t like the way the rules are set up. However, since the regulations stand as they do,. Though I believe there are things to consider, I did not create the rules.
“As for myself, I have 10 points, so I definitely need to watch out for getting banned for my race.”
