In a recent poll conducted by RacingNews365, Formula 1 fans expressed strong interest in the idea of Max Verstappen making a future move to Aston Martin. The Dutch driver is currently under contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028; however, the prospect of a switch has sparked significant discussion among fans and analysts alike.

Aston Martin’s owner, Lawrence Stroll, is known for his admiration of the talented driver, having recently brought renowned engineer Adrian Newey from Red Bull to bolster the team’s technical prowess at their headquarters in Silverstone. This strategic move indicates Stroll’s ambitious intent to elevate Aston Martin’s position in the sport, especially as the team gears up to become a works team in partnership with Honda starting in 2026. Notably, Verstappen utilized Honda’s power units to clinch his first Formula 1 World Championship in 2021, adding an intriguing layer to this potential future collaboration.
Despite the speculation surrounding Verstappen’s possible transition to Aston Martin, team management has publicly dismissed suggestions of pursuing a billion-pound offer for the reigning champion. They have asserted their confidence in their current driver lineup, consisting of veteran Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, Lawrence’s son. However, the long-term viability of Red Bull under their current configuration raises questions. The organization is set to develop its in-house power unit for the first time in 2026, coinciding with substantial regulatory changes to the chassis. These shifts may present challenges for the team, especially in light of recent departures from senior positions, including Adrian Newey and sporting director Jonathan Wheatley.

The challenges at Red Bull come at a crucial time, as the entire landscape of Formula 1 changes with new regulations and technologies. This uncertainty has fuelled speculation about Verstappen’s future in the sport. The RacingNews365 poll presented fans with several options concerning the possibility of Verstappen trading Red Bull for Aston Martin. The results revealed that a significant number of fans, nearly 40%, believe he should make the move, viewing it as a promising opportunity for the talented driver.
Although this option emerged as the most favorable among voters, it’s important to recognize that it did not secure a majority. The poll offered other viewpoints as well, revealing a spectrum of opinions among fans. About 20% of respondents felt that Verstappen should consider a move but not before 2027, while another almost 14% were noncommittal, expressing uncertainty or a lack of concern regarding the issue. Additionally, opinions were divided regarding the prospect of Verstappen remaining with Red Bull for the entirety of his career; 13.73% of participants favored this perspective. Interestingly, 15.03% asserted that if Verstappen leaves Red Bull, he would be more likely to sign with rival teams such as Mercedes or Ferrari.
