The head coach of the Atlanta Falcons Raheem Morris, is detained for suspected DUI.
To begin with, let me clarify that although Raheem Morris was taken into custody and later freed on bond, this is only an alleged occurrence and he has not been found guilty. In any case, the former head coach and quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons was detained for driving under the influence at a Hawaii crossroads.
In an interview with Stephen Tsai of “The Star Advisor,” June Jones partially refuted the accusations, saying, “I was speeding and got caught; I was returning from eating dinner.” I have nothing further to say at this time.
I’m not sure how the general public is expected to react to that, but yeah. Who knows if that’s him claiming the fifth, denying it, or saying what actually happened?
In any case, in the 1970s, June Jones was a quarterback for the collegiate teams at Oregon, Hawaii, and Portland State. In 1977, the Falcons signed him as an undrafted player, and he appeared in just 17 games, five of which he started.
After that, he spent a year as a player in the CFL before beginning his coaching career.
He began his career as a coach in the NFL in 1991, having previously served as an offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons and coaching in college and the USFL. Jones took over as head coach from the intriguing Jerry Glanville after three seasons as the offensive coordinator.
You may already be aware of what transpired after that: June Jones was fired after having many run-ins with quarterback Jeff George. His replacement was Dan Reeves, and the Falcons went on to win their first Super Bowl, so it appeared to be a good move.
