Votes for the 2023 NFL Season Award are given to Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles.
The majority of Buccaneers supporters and NFL reporters believe that the team had a successful season. They faced doubts over the whole offseason, but they proved they were one of the best teams in the league when they advanced to the playoffs and defeated the Eagles in their Wild Card round.
The players’ performance this season has been a major factor in the Bucs’ success, but much of what the team has accomplished this season would not have been feasible in the absence of a cohesive coaching staff. As the season went on, the Bucs provided answers to all of the questions that had been raised about whether they had made the right decisions in keeping Todd Bowles as head coach and hiring first-year play-caller Dave Canales as the offensive coordinator.
Tom Brady is still regarded by Patrick Mahomes as the best quarterback of all time.
The NFL releases its year-end award winners at the end of the season, and while the Buccaneers’ coaches were nowhere near the victors, it was encouraging to see them at least nominated for Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year.
Head coach Todd Bowles tied for tenth place with Mike McDaniel of the Dolphins and Sean McDermott of the Bills after receiving one vote in third place for coach of the year.
Dave Canales, the current head coach of the Panthers and former offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers, finished in tenth place for Assistant Coach of the Year with two third-place points. Canales accomplished a great deal in his first season as a playcaller, and this further demonstrates why the Carolina Panthers highly regarded him as their potential head coach.
