Here are five ideal situations that we hope the Houston Texans can achieve.
This offseason, the Houston Texans have the best chance of developing into a legitimate Super Bowl contender. The organization has a genuine chance to sign some big names this offseason because their valued players are as cheap as they’ll ever be and they can reallocate some money to make the most use of their cap space. For whatever reason—a shortage of money or draft capital, for example—the Texans are unlikely to make all five of these significant moves, but they should give each and every one of them careful thought.
And more power to them if they succeed in completing all five. The greatest time to add a few big names to their roster is now, as the team will become absurdly expensive in the next few years as they attempt to find money for players like Will Anderson Jr., Nico Collins, and C.J. Stroud. If the team waits too long, it will simply find itself in cap hell, which usually destroys teams or makes general managers work for their pay.
After Stroud and Company’s contracts blow out, it’s possible they can sign a free agent or two of enormous caliber, but this is the best moment to do it with the least amount of movement and money hidden away. Therefore, we’re hoping that after seeing this list, the Houston crew will say, “Yes, that’s what we’re going to do.”
So grab a seat; this is going to be one crazy ride.
