With seven players listed in MLB Network’s Top 100, the Astros lead the American League.
Seven Astros players—three pitchers and four position players—were ranked among the Top 100 baseball players by MLB Network going into the 2024 season.
With nine players ranking in the Top 100, including four in the Top 20, the Braves lead all teams in terms of players on the list. The Dodgers, who own three of the top five spots—first baseman Freddie Freeman at No. 5, designated hitter Shohei Ohtani at No. 4, and second baseman Mookie Betts at No. 2—are the only other team with at least seven spots in the rankings. However, their superstar power may be unrivaled.

With five players apiece, the other three American League teams with the highest player counts are the Rangers, Mariners, and Orioles.
The Top 25 players include Josh Hader, Alex Bregman, Framber Valdez, Justin Verlander, and Astros players Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve, and Kyle Tucker.
On Wednesday, the MLB Network finished compiling its list, which differs slightly from their earlier position-by-position rankings. There were eight Astros on those lists, more than any other team in baseball, representing every position on the field in addition to starting pitchers and relievers. With the exception of center field, shortstop, and first base, Houston had a player ranked in the Top 10. Though they failed to make the final 100, Chas McCormick, Yainer Diaz, and Bryan Abreu all finished in the Top 10 at right field, catcher, and bullpen pitcher, respectively. On the other hand, Hader and Valdez made the current rankings even though they didn’t place in the Top 10 in their places.
