With their victory over Everton, Man United became the first team to break the Premier League record.

Manchester United became the first team to achieve Premier League record with a win over Everton

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United picked up their fifth win in six Premier League games, and the vital victory over Sean Dyche’s Everton keeps them within touching distance of the top four.

Alejandro Garnacho’s stunning overhead kick, a Marcus Rashford penalty, and an Anthony Martial dinked finish over Jordan Pickford were enough for the points.

However, despite the wonderful goal scored by Garnacho, the Red Devils have broken another landmark, which may well be more pleasing for Ten Hag after their defensive struggles.

The clean sheet achieved by Andre Onana and the imperious defence was United’s 500th in the Premier League, and they are the first side to achieve this feat in the league.

Kobbie Mainoo cleared Dwight McNeil’s effort off the line, while Onana made an excellent stop from Idrissa Gueye just after Rashford had made it 2-0 to preserve United’s clean sheet.

The shutout from Onana was United’s third in a row after back-to-back 1-0 successes against Fulham, and Luton Town have kept up their decent run of form in the league.

Amazingly, after the poor start to the season, they are just six points from the summit of the division, despite Ten Hag being under pressure following defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Onana currently sits joint-top of the Premier League’s Golden Glove rankings, and his fifth clean sheet of the season helped United pass the landmark at Goodison Park, with only Chelsea (476), Liverpool (460), and Arsenal (456) keeping more than 400.

Despite the struggles at Old Trafford for the previous decade, the club are 24 clean sheets clear of second-placed Chelsea, and there have only been two seasons where they have failed to achieve more than 10 clean sheets—the 2018–19 season and the 2021–22 seasons are the only exceptions.

Onana seems to be settling into Old Trafford well after a tough start and deserves more praise for his recent run of form.

So this was the 500th… What was the first? Well, we have to go all the way back to the birth of the Premier League to find that out.

Manchester United’s first-ever Premier League clean sheet took place on August 24, 1992, when they played against Southampton at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils won the match 1-0, with Dion Dublin as the only goal scorer. 499 clean sheets later, here we are. What a journey!
