Tyson Fury, the heavyweight champion, unveils his five-match schedule ahead of his battle with Anthony Joshua.
Later this month in Riyadh, WBC champion Fury was scheduled to square off against WBO, WBA, and IBF belt holder Oleksandr Usyk.
However, the British fighter sustained a nasty cut above his eye during training, forcing the much awaited match to be rescheduled for May 18 in Saudi Arabia.
Regardless of how their first fight goes, Fury plans to rematch with Usyk of Ukraine before taking on Anthony Joshua in one or two fights, followed by Francis Ngannou, whom he defeated in October..
On his Instagram page on Wednesday, Fury said, I keep hearing comments of people saying I should retire or I’m going to retire soon or anything, while sporting sutures above his eye. I have two fights left with Usyk for the undisputed, twice. I’m not retiring.
Fury, who has not yet faced Joshua, continued, saying, After the first beating I give him, if he wants a rematch, then I’m going to fight AJ (Joshua) at least once, maybe twice.”
After that, I’ll battle Ngannou once more.
That’s only the beginning. To get you in the mood, here are five bouts. I am not going away. I’m at the peak of my life at 35 years old.
Since going professional in 2008, Fury has won 34 bouts and drawn one.
In his most recent bout, he defeated former UFC mixed martial arts world champion Ngannou in a contentious decision, marking his professional boxing debut. Despite being knocked down, Fury prevailed on a split decision.
On March 8, Joshua, a two-time former world champion, will face Ngannou in a non-title bout that will take place in Saudi Arabia.
Lennox Lewis, who defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999, was the final heavyweight boxing champion to be declared uncontested.
