Packers versus. Vikings: Staff preview and predictions for Week 17

Despite losing 30-24 to the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon, they are still very much in the running for a wild card position in the playoffs, even though they are currently sitting at 7-8.

Multiple season-ending injuries were also sustained in that game; earlier this week, outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum and tight end T.J. Hockenson were placed on injured reserve after suffering injuries that ended their seasons.

Before the crucial game on Sunday night, our experts reviewed and made predictions about the NFC North rivalry.

If the Vikings and Packers are to have any serious chance of making the playoffs, they both need to win this game. The desire to defeat your fiercest opponent and feelings of pride are just as important to this game as the playoffs. The Vikings should be able to prevail because they have the advantage of playing at home and have superior coaching overall.

There will be plenty to play for in a prime-time clash against the Packers, as the Vikings need to win their final two games and get some help if they want to make the playoffs. The Vikings and Green Bay are both at 7-8 after Minnesota defeated the Packers 24-10 at Lambeau Field on 29 October. To conclude the season 3-5 at home, the Vikings must win this game.

The club the Vikings faced in Week 8 is not the same as this one. This Packers team has finished sixth in success rate, third in EPA/dropback, tenth in EPA/rush, and fourth in EPA/play since week nine. Among quarterbacks, Jordan Love is ninth in terms of success rate and fourth in terms of adjusted EPA/play. With their recent offensive surge, the Green Bay Packers are hoping to sneak into the playoffs.

Still, the defence hasn’t altered. Green Bay, which is in the worst half of the league, has allowed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers a total of 64 points over the last two weeks. In order for Minnesota to have any chance of making the playoffs, they need to win this game. The offence will barely manage to survive in a fierce NFC North match, giving the Vikings their first series victory over the Packers since 2017.

The Minnesota Vikings need to win their last two games and get some help if they want to make the playoffs. Although individuals have no influence over whether they receive the assistance they require, they do have control over whether they take the necessary action. Will this squad show up fired up to finish well and cap off this really amazing season, or will the quarterback position uncertainty ruin what might have been an amazing tale? This Sunday, we will find out just that.

Minnesota is going back to Jaren Hall in the wake of Nick Mullens’ inability to seize control of the position. We will now watch the rookie’s performance over the next two weeks. He should be able to produce decent statistics if he can establish a connection with Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson, the wide receivers. With tight end T.J. Hockenson sidelined for the whole season due to a serious knee injury, his workload increased.

Will he have enough success finding his gifted receivers to win the game and keep the Vikings in the running for the playoffs? Is it possible for Minnesota to defeat Green Bay? In the end, I don’t believe it. I no longer believe that the Vikings will have a playmaking quarterback this season. Hall will hold it close, but one or two errors will determine the outcome.
