Five defenders have been signed by the Steelers to reserve or future contracts..
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed five more reserve/future contracts today, after signing sixteen last week.
Up to the beginning of the season, players with reserve or futures contracts are not formally bound by contracts. It is not deducted from the 2023–2024 season’s roster cap or salary cap. The player counts against the offseason 90-man roster cap, and the contract is tallied against the 2024–2025 salary cap.
The athlete is not allowed to negotiate with other organizations once they have signed a futures contract.
Teams may sign as many players to future contracts as they like as long as it doesn’t push them over the 90-man cap, which goes into effect on the first day of the new league year. This will be a continuing process.
