Celtics Announce Summer League Roster
The Celtics held their inaugural Summer League practice on Saturday at the Auerbach Center.
It had “far more competition stuff than I expected it was going to be, which made it even more entertaining for me,” according to rookie Jordan Walsh. It was undoubtedly an incredible first day to simply be able to get up and down and play with those guys and get a feel for them.”
The former Arkansas Razorback stated to Inside The Celtics that he intends “to win every game, without a doubt,” in the Summer League. With the team, I want to be able to win every game and dominate.”
Head coach Tony Dobbins of Boston’s Sin City team delivered the following message to the players: “We are eager to work with you and invest in you. We cannot guarantee how many minutes you will play or how many points you will score, but we can guarantee that every member of the staff is fully committed to helping you improve. That way, at the end of the Summer League, whether it’s on the 16th or 17th, you will know that you have improved as a player from the beginning.” You’ll also realize that you were surrounded by a team of employees who genuinely cared about you, invested in you, and were committed to seeing you succeed.
“Finally, from the standpoint of the player, we want to foster an atmosphere in which everyone knows the importance of being a good teammate, celebrates their success, and expresses happiness for their teammates—whether it’s a well-made shot, a brilliant play, or a team victory. We want to foster an atmosphere in which we’re all happy for each other.”
Additionally, Dobbins stated, “As a staff, it’s easy to come in here and work with those guys because we have people joining us from all different places in their career and on their journey and path, and they’re all excited to be here and receptive to coaching.”
Regarding his goals for this encounter, he stated the following:.
“I’m just attempting to make the most of it and appreciate learning about a different aspect of coaching than what I see on the field. However, I also see it as a chance for me to be in a better position to support Joe (Mazzulla), the head coach. That, in my opinion, speaks to me and to all of us. One of the best things about Summer League is that it gives staff and players the opportunity to engage in activities that differ slightly from those during the regular season. However, everyone’s ultimate objective is to improve for the franchise. The franchise advances if each person makes a tiny improvement.”
Play in Summer League starts for the Celtics on July 8. J.D. Davison, the team’s second-round selection from the previous year, is on it. Justin Champagnie, signed late in the season. Udoka Azubuike was a former first round selection. Mychal Mulder is a three-year NBA veteran who most recently played for the Heat. Additionally, guard Jay Scrubb, a 2020 second-round selection who has two-way contracts with the Clippers and Magic
