The Turkish news source claims on their website (January 5) that manager Abdullah Avci has the midfield player as one of his main goals this month.
The player is evaluating an offer, and there are “hot hours” ahead for the transfer. Gomes’s Goodison Park contract is scheduled to expire in the summer.
“Trabzonspor acted for Andre Gomes, an Everton player that coach Abdullah Avcı much desired,” the article stated.
“Trabzonspor is still experiencing hot hours. The claret-blue team began working quickly to bring in high-level reinforcements for the team prior to the transfer window officially starting.
“At last, Everton player Andre Gomes returned to the Storm’s agenda during the summer. The summer brings an expiration date for the contract that the player Abdullah Avcı desires with the English team.
“Therefore, the player and the club have assessed the offers that have been made.”
Anticipated…
Gomes was scheduled to depart during the summer transfer window, but a calf injury appeared to thwart the plan at the last second, keeping him sidelined until very recently.
However, since returning to the team, Gomes has demonstrated that he does have a role to play with some excellent displays, particularly against Tottenham.
Right now, Sean Dyche doesn’t have many choices in the centre of midfield because Idrissa Gueye is headed to the AFCON and Abdoulaye Doucoure and Amadou Onana are both dealing with ailments.
With the Portuguese international on high salaries and an expiring contract in the summer, the Toffees may be better off financially letting him go this month, even though it may leave them with fewer choices for the second half of the season.
It’s really important to keep an eye on this contract because it might be the club’s last opportunity to make some money and remove him from the payroll.
