Pittsburgh Steelers Star Player Takes Shot At Leadership For Lack of’structure”
A Pittsburgh Steelers star player would like to see some critical changes in the building for next season following a roller-coaster season. The Steelers won their final three regular-season games to squeeze into the playoffs with a 10-7 record. But they fell to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round on Monday.
The Steelers had plenty of internal drama along the way. Wide receivers Diontae Johnson and George Pickens were frustrated with the staleness of the offense at times. Offensive coordinator Matt Canada was fired in mid-November after fans had called for his head since the start of the season.
This offseason, a Pittsburgh Steelers standout wants to see change
Running back Najee Harris believes that this offseason, the Steelers’ leadership needs to be adjusted even further. After Monday’s loss to the Bills, Harris reportedly supported Tomlin in front of the media multiple times, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. He did, however, assert that management must establish new guidelines in order to improve the structure for the upcoming season.
According to Harris, it’s just the building’s policies. We must exercise more self-control. We need to put in more effort. Not that we aren’t; we’re just from a location where things are structured, and we realized we probably could use some assistance in these areas. It may bring about a transformation. It seems like something we could assist with. I’m not arguing that coaches or anything similar are unimportant. I’m just stating more internal guidelines.
Although I’m simply a player, the men in that building are knowledgeable about what I mean.
Although Harris doesn’t think Tomlin should be fired at the end of the season, it’s difficult to read that comment and not conclude that Harris is cautioning the coaching staff about the need to alter Pittsburgh’s culture.
After spending 18 seasons in Pittsburgh, Tomlin will be in his final year of contract if he chooses to stay with the Steelers in 2024. Is Tomlin going to alter enough to make it to season 19?
