Why NFL Projects Dak Prescott To Be The Highest-Paid Quarterback

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott appears to be destined to be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the upcoming season with his upcoming new contract. This is something that we have been discussing at CowboysSI.com for several months. Big playmakers pay big dollars.

Unexpectedly, however, in light of Dak’s performance in 2023, which was comparable to that of an MVP, “one of the highest-paid” might be underestimating his value.

Prescott is currently a “$40 million APY player… who is likely to soon be a $50 million APY player, which could make him the highest-paid player in the history of the National Football League.” This information was provided by Mike Fisher in a piece that had been published.

In March of 2023, that occurred. Over the course of time, however, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts have all achieved total earnings of more than fifty million dollars. And what about now?

While the Cowboys are in the process of negotiating Prescott’s new contract for the upcoming season, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport speculates that it will be a long-term agreement that would put the quarterback “near the top” of the pay list in the National Football League.
On the other hand, “near the top” might not have the same meaning as “near” where this actually goes.

In a recent interview, Cowboys Chief Operating Officer Stephen Jones affirmed that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will be the team’s quarterback for the upcoming season. However, Jones also stated that the team would like to concentrate on finishing the season strong before discussing the issue of Prescott’s contract.

During the month of October, Jones stated to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, “He is currently under contract, but we would like to conduct this after the season.” Following the conclusion of the season, we will concentrate on that. We will be using Dak as our quarterback.

Given that Prescott was at the top of the National Football League in terms of interceptions during the previous season, with a total of 15, despite the fact that he did not participate in five games, there was some opposition to him before the beginning of the 2023 season. The fact that he has completed 70.1% of his throws so far this season, accumulating 3,234 yards, 26 touchdowns, and only six interceptions, has, however, demonstrated that those who were skeptical were mistaken.
Prescott is presently in first place in the National Football League with the most touchdown passes thrown this season. He has also helped the Cowboys secure a significant position in the playoff picture by leading them to a 9-3 overall season record.

Since 1995, the Cowboys have not been able to lay claim to a Lombardi Trophy, and they are currently in the process of attempting to win the Super Bowl. The outcome of the 2023 season for the Cowboys could be in Prescott’s hands, but it is nearly certain that he will be the one to decide the outcome, and regardless of what happens, a significant check will be in his hands.
